South Beach

This painting represents pure creative expression and the breakdown of what appears to the senses into an essence felt in that environment. Created simultaneously as a love letter to the artist’s years living in Miami Beach in the 1990’s, each work takes an element of South Florida living and captures the dynamic energy balanced with the serene colors of the pastel Florida skies. The process was mindfulness in action, a deliberate attempt by the artist to stop any internal dialogue wanting to dictate the outcome and simply being present with the feeling of being at a sunset on the beach or those regular 3pm thunderstorms after a hot humid day. Having lived many places, there’s a reason Florida has captured the heart of the artist and how deep the experiences and environments have imprinted on her soul. Peach, Mint green, sky blue, white and black, layers stacked on and scraped off with her grandmother’s palette knife, these works are the heart and soul of pure artistic freedom at play.
